Takoda

Takoda is 17 and was diagnosed with aspergers at 5 years old.  Takoda is a funny, compassionate, and articulate guy. He cares very deeply about animals and wouldn't hurt a fly.

Like most kids on the spectrum, his interests are in technology, which we noticed when he was a baby. Buttons and lights were always more interesting to him over people. He has a sensitive pallet, and because of that he is a good judge of whole foods and can describe which ingredients are in recipes. Takoda enjoys travelling around to restaurants that are featured on the Food Network. He loves Gordon Ramsey's restaurant.

Most of his strengths appeared after a lot of adjustments to how he learns. Reading and spelling and understanding of science and technology are amazing. He also has an incredible vocabulary. He still struggles with communicating ideas and being over stimulated with surrounding noise and visuals at the same time. He knows now how to advocate for himself.

Our hope is he will continue to reach goals for independence. We also look forward to him having life long friends in his new community.
