Bentley
Written by Ashley Wells
Bentley is a 7 year old boy living with high functioning Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Separation Anxiety Disorder, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Bentley lives at home with his mom, Mandy, dad, Daniel, and older sister, KyLee.
Bentley can be a shy kid at first, but once he gets to know someone, he really opens up! He has a big heart, is caring, and doesn't like to see others hurt or sad. His happiness and smile can light up a room! He is very cautious of the world around him and really takes things in before joining something, but once he feels comfortable, he becomes very outgoing.
Bentley LOVES Legos and has been known to build a huge Lego set by himself in less than a day! He is also a fan of sports, and likes to play soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. He enjoys getting to drive a golf cart with his cousins. Bentley loves animals and also enjoys playing video games with his dad. He is quite the little chef, and has mastered making homemade flour tortillas.
Bentley has many strengths, some of which include his kindness for others, his helpfulness, his independence, and his positive energy.
Like any family, they have their share of challenges. Living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder can be frustrating for Bentley. He has certain ways he likes things to be done, and if they aren't done that way, it is upsetting for him. He is working with a therapist to reduce his frustration.
Bentley wants to be a veterinarian when he grows up, he really loves animals! Especially his dog!
Bentley's parents hope that he will graduate from high school, go on to veterinary school, work in a vet clinic, find his true love, and have children of his own. Bentley says that he will go to vet school, get married, have kids, move back home with his family, and make his sister move out because his wife and children need her room since he only has a twin bed. He is a problem solver!!
Bentley recently received Student of the Month at his school for the month of April, 2019. Way to go Bentley!!!
